2024 Topps Archives Signature Series - Retired Edition Yount Checklist - Always a work in progress

 Once again Robin is featured as a signer in this year's Archives Signature Series - Retired Edition.  If you don't know what Archives Signature Series is it's basically Topps having player, in this case retired players many of the HOFers, sign buyback cards from their playing days or cards issued more recently.  Since Topps doesn't actually release a checklist of the cards they sign we get the fun task of compiling our own.  

So this post will be a work in progress as cards come up for sale I'll add them to the checklist.

 Robin is once again featured in Archives. This year 1956, 1965, and 2003 are chosen for the base set designs.  I'd have been happy with Robin being featured in any of those years.  Here is the checklist of his cards in the set.  I'll add images as I find them.

On the Radar - 2023 Topps Archives Signature Series Retired Edition

 Robin is once again a featured player in the 2023 Topps Archives Signature Series Retired Edition.  And as always Topps doesn't actually put out a checklist of cards the Robin has signed.  If you don't know the premise of the release is Topps uses buyback cards and has the player sign them, they get a foil stamp and they are encased.  

Since a lot of the cards are very low numbered, even 1 of 1's, I'll be adding cards as I find them to this checklist.

I often wonder, but not enough to really do anything about it, how many times has Topps reprinted in some way or another this card?  It must be over a 100 times I would guess, at any rate it's a lot and it seems like almost once a year.  I won't deny it, it's an iconic card, a card I love and have a bunch of the original, but seems like easy pickings for Topps.  That being said, back in 2001 this horse had not been beaten so badly and I do love the shininess of chrome.

I think I've mentioned this on the blog before, but about a month ago I finally put in my shipment request at COMC.  It had been over a year since my last request and I was itching to finally get my hands on the cards I had sitting in my portfolio.  Of course shipping is super backed up at COMC and my projected shipping and delivery date isn't until mid April.  Oh the waiting is the hardest part!! Included in the lot is over 200 cards and quite a few of those feature Robin.  I've already added them to TCDB and my collection here, but man it'll be nice to get them in hand and feature them on the blog.

So while we wait let's take a look at one of my favorite card designs featuring Robin from the past year. So much so that this is still my blog header as I write this.  I haven't bought much off of eBay in the last couple years.  That's mainly due to the insane cost of shipping one card in a bubble mailer.  That might change with eBay's standard envelope but we'll see.  But I did pick up this beautiful purple parallel off of the bay last year.  It was a mix of good timing, but also the seller had a cheap or free shipping, I can't remember.  The one thing that has irked me about Archives in year's past is that when Robin has been included in the base checklist he usually appears on a design that he was an active player and had a card featured in the original set.  Not so this year and I love the way his card turned out in the 1955 design. Which also happens to be Robin's birth year.
