I'm a sucker for gimmicks and for the most part that means I have no problem with Topps manufactured relics craze.  I do take issue that these count as hits in products, but that's another rant for another day.  I've been waiting to pick up one of these 2018 Commemorative All-Star "Patches" cards for awhile.  I put the patches in quotes as this is not what I would really call a patch, it's more of a plastic or rubberized disc, but I digress.  I do find it a little amusing that I ended up picking up the black parallel version and have still yet to find a base version in my price range.  But the black parallel really does look good.

Still sitting here in 1983.  Today we have the second of Robin's 3 cards from the 1983 Topps set.  This is Robin's All-Star card.  It's hard for me to believe that Robin was only voted to the All-star squad 3 times during his 20 year career all of them in the early 80's.  Robin would also go to the game in 1983, but this card commemorates his 1982 team selection.  Interestingly the back of the card has nothing to do with Robin or the 1982 All-star game.  Man look at the 80's chiseled Robin Yount with the featured hair.

I have to say I really like this year's Topps flagship design.  By this year I mean 2015, not this year 1990.  But I do like the 1990 design as well.  My point is I like the 2015 design specifically because of all the color and it's hard to believe that it took Topps 25 years to make anything like what they put out in 1990.

I'm sure there are plenty of haters of this set.  And lets face it these cards will never be rare, but man do they stand out.
