2008 Upper Deck Premier

Year: 2008
Manufacture: Upper Deck
Set: Premier
Card Number: 196
Card Type: Base
Card Attributes: Serial Numbered
Serial Number: 80/99

Continuing my series of new Younts from my COMC Black Friday hall.  One of the things I love is on Black Friday is to sit in front of my computer with a nice hot cup of coffee and go hunting for cards I need and hopefully find some deals.  It also always surprises me when I find something I though I had, but didn't.  There were quite a few of those cards this year and this 2008 UD Premier base card is one of those cards.  Upper Deck had a couple premium baseball brands near the end of their run on baseball with sets like Ultimate, Sweet Spot, and Premier.  As a matter of fact this base card is rarer than the base cards in this year's Topps Transcendence.  And lets face it Upper Deck could do high end and low end.  The base cards for the Premier set were numbered to just 99.

The front features a great full bleed photo and a nice little design for the serial numbering.  On the back we only get one line of yearly stats, Robin's 1982 MVP season and total career stats.

There are 3 parallel set for the base cards all very low numbered, Blue #/15, Silver #/5, and Gold #/1.

2007 Upper Deck Premier: Premier Penmanship Autograph card.

Card Manufacturer: Upper Deck
Card Set: UD Premier
Year:  2007
Card Number: PEN-RY
Card Type: Insert Autograph
Insert Set: Premier Penmanship
Card Attributes: Autographed, Serial Numbered
Serial Number: 69/74

I own a few Yount autos.  Not a ton, because they tend to go for a good price and prices for his autographed cards have definitely gone up in the last few years.  And that's great for the overall value of my collection, but that doesn't help in picking up new cards.  Anyway I picked this guy up a few years back and I'm sure I didn't get it cheap, but I can't remember.  And to be honest I had forgotten I even had this card till I was scanning in cards from the collection to post on here and for my own inventory purposes.  Sure I have this indexed in my Yount spreadsheet and on my Collection page, but sometimes you just lose track of this stuff. And that's a shame because this really is a great card and one I'm glad to have in the collection.  Yep it's a sticker auto, but a damn nice card and very low numbered. As a matter of fact these cards are numbered to the players rookie year and for Robin that was 1974.

This set was another super premium offering from Upper Deck with one 7 card pack per box.  But it was pretty loaded. As a matter of fact all but two of the cards were in the box were suppose to be relics, autos or auto relics.  So the base and rookie cards that come with it were sometimes a harder pull and those too were serial numbered.
