2014 Topps Future Stars that Never Where insert

Card Manufacturer: Topps
Card Set: Topps Baseball Series 2
Year: 2014
Card Number: FS-4
Card Type: Insert
Insert Set: Future Stars that Never Where

While I didn't have as crazy a Black Friday as some people by the posts and comments out there I did have a very successful one for me.  Picking up 20 new Younts for the collection was quite a boon.

And picking up most of the 2014 Topps inserts was even better. These Future Stars that Never Where seem like they were a hard pull, as I never pulled one out of Series 2 and they didn't come up on ebay all that often.  But being able to pick this guy up for less than I would have paid for shipping had I bought it off of ebay made my day.

These cards are thicker than I would have thought, but that's not a bad thing, other than I had to track down a top loader to fit it.

Supposedly there are also gold parallels numbered to 99 and Robin also has an autographed and relic version in this set, but oddly not the auto relic.

And yes we get another Rookie card reprint.  I think Topps must have a deal with Robin that they have to issue at least one rookie card reprint a year for him.

2014 Topps Series 1 Rookie Card Reprint Black Framed

Card Manufacturer: Topps
Card Set: Topps Baseball Series 1
Year:  2014
Card Number: 223
Card Type: Insert
Insert Set: Black Framed Rookie Reprint
Card Attributes: Serial Numbered
Serial Number: 006/199

I got my second 2014 Yount card in the mail yesterday. It's another rookie card reprint. I think by now Topps has probably issued as many  reprints of various types for Robin's rookie card as it did regular issue cards while he was playing.

Regardless, I got this guy for a good price and from the chatter from other player collectors about these I did really want to add one.  These Rookie Card Reprints as the insert is called are framed and have 3 different levels. There are black framed cards numbered to 199, silver framed cards numbered to 99, and gold framed cards numbered to 25.

I will say this card is very heavy and very thick. I've included some reference shots below to show the frame and thickness.

As you can see it's about a quarter inch think, The frame might be metal but the front and the back of the card are not. It's too bad it would have been cool had the whole card been metal or like an enameled advertising sign.

I've had my eyes on the few Silver and Gold framed parallels, but  having at least this one for the collection I'm not too hell bent on picking up the other two, unless of course I find a great deal.

On the radar! 2014 Topps Series 1 Younts

Arg that's a terrible image. Oh well. Just a quick note for the fellow Yount collectors out there. 2014 Topps Series 1 officially drops this Wednesday, but retail is already on the shelves.  I've combed through the official checklist Topps released a few days ago and there are 3 new Younts to be had in the set.

Rookie Card Manufactured patch card. I do believe this is one of the retail blaster exclusives. RCP-10

Top 25 Rookie Card reprints RCF-10. I haven't seen any of these online yet I'm sure they are hobby only. Looks like there are different levels of this card I've seen ones up on ebay numbered to 199, 99, and 25 so far.

Trajectory Relic - TR-RY, The only new card not featuring a reprint of Robin's 1975 rookie card. And from the few I've seen for sale this looks to be a short print.

Of course all three will be featured when I get them in my hands.
