Let's take a time machine back to 2003 when Tribute was still pretty new, parallel were few and Hall of Fame relics were everywhere.  Apologies for the crappy scan. I'm sure this relic is in a screwdown holder when I scanned it.  A great dual relic from arguably the two best Brewers of all-time.  The World Series Edition has some fantastic relics and autographs in the set.  Plus I love the old style serial numbering.  So huge.  I also love that this card clearly states that the relics in the card are game used.

We are on the downhill run of my Black Friday COMC pick-posts, I promise.  But we still have a few more cards to get through.  Like I've stated before this year was more about filling in holes than picking up cool parallels or inserts, but I still managed a few of both.  The next card up is probably from the highest end set in the bunch.  Tribute was one of Topps' first real premium high end brands and still is, even if it's been eclipsed by even more expensive sets.  The set features some great autographs, relics, and auto relic cards, some of which Robin has in the set, there are also two very low numbered parallel sets called, First Impressions and Lasting Impressions.  

This is another card that should have probably already been in the collection, but was somehow missed.  The cards is very shiny. I like the overall look of the card, the set is themed around Milestones and celebrates Robin's 3000th hit. I even like that Topps used it's copyright notice as a border on the back of the card.

2010 was a good year for me.  I got a new job, moved to the big city up here in Alaska, and I bought a house.  All pretty big stuff.  2010 wasn't not a huge year for new Yount cards.  The Trading Card Database list just 69 cards, cross referencing with Beckett, they list 76.  That said Robin did grace a lot of Topps' sets that year.  He didn't have a base card in the 2010 Tribute set, but did have multiple relic cards.  

I wish I remembered where and when I picked this card up.  I'm positive it was off of ebay, but the other details escape me.  As far as relics go it's pretty boring. Three pieces of bat with the grain all going the same way.  And the back of the card is no better.   So much wasted space up top too.  The triple relics do have an autograph version and if Robin had had an autographed version of this card, which he does not, that's what would have gone in that big void by his head.

I find it interesting I acquired one of Robin's relic cards from this set well before I picked up my first base card.  But you'll remember this set had problems with the autographs, the main selling point for the set, and Topps ended up recalling the product, so a lot of the base cards and parallels were never opened.  Topps then rereleased Tribute as a Special Edition with a very high price point and new configuration that really marketed the product to case breakers.  Anyway, I finally found a seller on COMC that didn't want an arm and a leg for this card.  Just a regular base card nothing special here, but probably the hardest base card in 2015 to find, at least for me.

Fresh out of the mailbox.  One of my latest additions from ebay seller wfbookmen.  The seller Jon has a fairly regular Yount mega selection.  Sometimes it's a little overwhelming, but I've learned that I can't have everything and usually will focus on a couple cards or oddball items and take advantage of his generous combined shipping.

This marks the first of any 2015 Tribute cards to make it into my collection.  You may remember Topps recalled this project last year due to quality control issues with the autographs.  Topps has finally re-released it, but at an insane configuration and price point.  Anyways I still have yet to pick up any of Robin's base cards from the set, but I will.

The overall design isn't that bad.  It's been following this 1920's art deco style that Topps has been putting into Tribute for a while now.  I also like the fact that there is a little color on the swatch.  I remember back in the early 2000's when relic cards were really popular that the premium cards were the 2 color one's like this.  Now a days if it isn't a patch swatch it's really just filler.  But I'll take my new Yount relic,  This is the base relic numbered to 199, like all products these days there are lots of color parallels to chase.

I've always really liked the Tribute base cards.  Probably because Tribute is a hit driven product the base cards are relegated as filler.  That's too bad because they are well done cards.  Shiny and printed on think card stock and of course they come in a rainbow of flavors.  I especially like Robin's 2011 card because it uses a photo that wasn't over used in production that year. I won't say Topps didn't reuse it, and right now I'm too lazy to find out, from what I can remember you don't see this image used too often. Plus it's a great mid 70's photos and he looks like he's going to bunt. Heck it could be from his rookie year.  Robin also has a few relics in the set and a really nice triple auto with Paul Molitor and Ryan Braun

Nothing to really get excited about, at least now.  Back in 2002 this was the bee's knees.  A nice shiny thick stock card with an actually game used relic.  Not an event used, game used for what that's worth.  Single color swatch and unnumbered the early 2000's marked a time with Robin's, and other players, jerseys were being cut up by the truck load for cards like this.  Still a nice card from the Cadillac of sets at the time.  I do like of the M shaped opening for the relic window.  Beats a plain square or circle.  Seems card makers are now just getting back to openings for their relic sets, you know besides Triple Threads.

I've always liked Tribute.  I don't like the steep price for boxes and packs, but I do love the look of the cards, the parallels, the inserts, and the hits.  Robin has been featured pretty consistently since Tribute came out in the early 2000's.

The card looks great in hand, it doesn't scan too well, like most shiny cards.  We get a great posed fielding shot of Robin in a classic mid-70's uniform.  As a matter of fact we can place this photo somewhere between 1974 and 1977.  I'm sure it's been used before, but not so much I can place the photo or the  usage elsewhere.

On the back we get the standard write up and career stats.

This card was feature on the blog many years ago after I picked it up.  And I can remember exactly where I got it, which can't be said for every card in the collection.  I was at one of rare, and now nonexistent, card shows here in Anchorage and I was thumbing though a miscellaneous box of cards and this popped out at me.  It's rare for me to find cards of Robin's at these shows and even rarer to find ones I don't already have and are this hard to find.  I asked the seller how much he wanted for it and he wasn't sure what it was worth, so I threw $5 out there and he quickly accepted.  Made me wonder if I could have gotten it for less, but I was more than happy to put a Honest Abe down for the card.  At the time these were going for about twice that on eBay and being a very low numbered parallel hard to find to begin with.  After figuring in what I would have paid in shipping alone my offer and purchase price was more than fair for me.

It's a great looking card, shiny, gold. I was going to make an outdated Austin Powers: Goldmember joke, but I won't.  I also like the image is a one not over used.  Probably not the best image, but at least it's different.

It's hard for me to pass up a low numbered parallel that I don't have.  I ended up picking this up on COMC during Black Friday for a ridiculous price.  And I've seen comments on how deals were really hard to find this year on the site, which is kind of true.  Once COMC and Beckett parted ways the list prices got a little crazy for some cards.  Say what you will about Beckett pricing, but at least it put a ceiling on the craziness, and most sellers would try and come in well below to make the cards look like a bargain.  Even still while some of the great deals of the past weren't to be found there were plenty of deals for me to spend my hard earned store credit on and this 2014 Tribute Emerald parallel was one of those.  

 I don't consider myself a slave to parallels when player collecting. If someone had been trying to get $15-20 for this card I would have easily just passed it up, but being able to pick this up for less than what shipping would have been on ebay, well that's a no brainer for me. 

Tribute is known more for it's hits than it's base design, but it's still not bad.  This year has a very art deco feel and even if they recycled a heavily used image of Robin it's not a bad looking card.

It did seem like they skimped a little bit on the back of the card.
