2000 Upper Deck Hitter's Club Generations of Excellence with George Brett

Card Manufacturer: Upper Deck
Card Set: Hitter's Club
Year: 2000
Card Number: GE3
Card Type: Insert
Insert Set: Generations of Excellence

1999 marked the year that Robin Yount came back to the baseball card world.  After he was inducted in the Hall of Fame he got a smattering of cards that year.  In 2000 it was slowing ramping up and by 2001 it was balls to the wall with card companies embracing the addition of retired and HOF subjects to their sets and checklists.

Robin shares this card with George Brett.  As a matter of fact Robin shares a lot of cards with George Brett.  It's understandable, both came into the league about the same time, George 1973, Robin 1974.  They both appeared on cardboard the same year 1975.  They both belong to the 3000 hits club, they both retired the same year 1993.  They both went into the Hall of Fame as first balloters and at the same time, 1999.  Both were franchise players for their respective teams and both are revered by their fans.

So to see Robin and George on the same card being compared isn't that big of a stretch and it sure isn't bad company.

Not a bad looking card featuring two of the greats.

2000 Upper Deck Hitter's Club Accolades Insert card.

Card Manufacturer: Upper Deck
Card Set: Hitter's Club
Year: 2000
Card Number: A1
Card Type: Insert
Insert Set: Accolades

In 1999 after Robin was elected to the Hall of Fame he was issued a couple cards. But in 2000 the flood gates started to open as card companies continued to offer sets that featured retired and HOF players.  Upper Deck's HItter's Club was an offering that had a tiny base set, only 90 cards, but featured some great inserts and the big hits were focused on Tony Gywnn and Wade Boggs entry into the 3000 hits club.

Robin was featured in a couple of the insert sets.  The Accolades set featured mostly active players, but there were a couple HOFers in it.
