1984 Topps 1983 All-Star Game Commemorative Set Rack Pack insert

Year: 1984
Manufacturer: Topps
Set: 1983 All-Star Game Commemorative Set
Card Number: 5
Card Type: Insert

If you bought any 3 blister rack packs from the 80's you'll remember these glossy inserts. Robin was a 3 time All-Star with 1983 being his last appearance.  These inserts are fun to collect and back in the mid-80's before inserts starting showing up in packs these were some of the only non-base cards to be found.  Plus they were glossy and colorful and printed on better card stock.  You could find these seeded one per rack pack and I'm sure there were plenty of kids digging through the racks looking for cards to complete their set and their favorite players.  These are still pretty easy to find and pretty cheap to pick up.

1990 Donruss Rack Pack

Year: 1990
Manufacturer: Donruss
What: 3 blister rack pack with Yount on top, middle.

I'm slowly building a nice cello collection.  Slowly is the keyword here, and nice is in the eye of the beholder.  I picked this rack pack up for less than a buck plus shipping.  Did I overpay for those 48 cards and 9 puzzle pieces, oh yeah.  But I get to add a new piece to the collection and a sub-collection.  Plus it also features Carlton Fisk and Carl Yastrzemksy's puzzle card.  I will say that 90 Donruss is in the running for my least favorite set of all time.  I affectionately call this the puke set.  But I don't hate it, I don't hate any card set.  I lamented on my last rack pack post which was 1988 Topps that I had wished Robin had been in the center blister and here I wish he would have been on the end, but it is what it is.

1988 Topps Rack Pack

Year: 1988
Manufacturer: Topps
Set: Flagship Baseball
What: 3 blister rack pack with Yount on front.

I don't know if I need anymore 88 Topps around the house, but I did pick up a new addition to the collection and one of my collecting goals this year.  I couldn't pass up a lot of 8, 1988 Topps rack packs for a buck, plus shipping was very reasonable.  I'll probably just try to resell the other packs or offer them up for trade eventually.  But there was only one pack I really cared about and it was this one. It's a nice bonus that there's also a Joey Meyer Future Stars card right next to Robin's.  The only thing that would have made this better would have been if Robin was featuring in the center blister.

1989 Topps 42 card rack pack with Kirby Puckett and Dave Winfield

Card Manufacturer:  Topps
Card Set: Topps Baseball
Year:  1989
Product: 3 Blister Rack pack

I have a small collection of cello in the Yount collection.  I have a few packs I'll feature eventually, but I just picked up this 1989 Topps rack pack.  Not only did I get this for only 50 cents, it features 3 Hall of Famers on the front.  Would have been nice if Yount was in the middle so you could see his pretty face, but still a nice line up for rack pack.  Not really anyone of note except for maybe Drabek on the back.
