On the Radar - Topps Online 150 Years of Professional Baseball on-demand card

I was hoping Robin would be featured in this set.  I was really hoping he'd get an artists rendition card and he still might.  Robin has card #130 in the set and celebrates his 1982 MVP award.

Like the rest of these cards these will be available till next Tuesday or you can wait and pick them up on the secondary market.

This card has been added to the master 2019 checklist along with all the other 5x7 and new 10x14 posters available on Topps.com.

Next up in my COMC Black Friday haul delivery is this 2013 Panini Hometown Heroes ZIP Code Parallel.  I had been looking for one of these cards since 2013.  The ZIP Code parallels fall 1:12 packs which equates to one per hobby box. NO clue what the insertion rate was for the 24 pack retail boxes. I couldn't find any print run information on the cards but as a box hit and the full 300 card set is paralleled any one card is pretty hard to get.  This was not a card I nabbed on Black Friday, no this card had been sitting in my portfolio since last January.  I can count the number of times I've seen this parallel or Robin's come up for sale on one hand so when this popped up on COMC or under $4 I grabbed it.  Overall I actually really like this set, it's fun and has some great inserts and bright in your face colors that really pop.  This card however is pretty terrible, with most of Yount's face obscured, the terrible photoshopped uniform color and airbrushing.  But I'm glad to be able to finally cross this card off my wantlist.

Continuing my series of new Younts from my COMC Black Friday hall.  One of the things I love is on Black Friday is to sit in front of my computer with a nice hot cup of coffee and go hunting for cards I need and hopefully find some deals.  It also always surprises me when I find something I though I had, but didn't.  There were quite a few of those cards this year and this 2008 UD Premier base card is one of those cards.  Upper Deck had a couple premium baseball brands near the end of their run on baseball with sets like Ultimate, Sweet Spot, and Premier.  As a matter of fact this base card is rarer than the base cards in this year's Topps Transcendence.  And lets face it Upper Deck could do high end and low end.  The base cards for the Premier set were numbered to just 99.

The front features a great full bleed photo and a nice little design for the serial numbering.  On the back we only get one line of yearly stats, Robin's 1982 MVP season and total career stats. 

There are 3 parallel set for the base cards all very low numbered, Blue #/15, Silver #/5, and Gold #/1.

Yesterday I finally got my COMC package from their Black Friday event.  I picked up a ton of new Younts from the Black Friday sale, but I also had a bunch of cards sitting in my portfolio that I had been picking up all year since the last Black Friday sale.  The package took almost 2 weeks to get to me.  COMC used Pitney Bowes as a third party shipper.  If COMC had just put my package in the mailbox or had USPS pick it up it most likely would have been in my mailbox about 3 days after mailing in from Redmond, Washington.  Instead the package took a trip to Nevada, then spent 4 days in California and then disappeared for 4 or 5 days till it showed up in my mailbox.  That being said my cards were very well packaged and none were damaged and to be fair COMC's delivery estimate was January 4th.  Ahem anyways, this year I picked up 53 new Younts from COMC. COMC has become my main avenue for picking up new Younts.  So for the next couple months I'll be presenting all the new cards I picked up.

First up is the one card I really wanted to get my hands on and it was by far the most expensive card I've ever bought off of COMC.  But this card also happens to come from, at least at the time, the most expensive baseball card product every made.  I had been watching what some of these Sketch Reproduction card have gone for in the past and I was happy to pick it up for about $25.  I picked this card up during COMC's Spring Cleaning sale way back earlier in the year and have been looking at it in my portfolio just waiting to get it in hand.  I have no illusions that I'll ever own the original sketch of this card, but I'm happy to add this unique card to my collection.  And this one will start off the COMC Black Friday collection posts. 

2005 Upper Deck SP Legendary Cuts

Back when Upper Deck was putting out Baseball Cards, the SP Legendary Cuts set was a fan favorite.  At least I remember it that way.  It was also one of the first sets that was hit driven and the base set is largely an after thought for the set.  The base set is just 90 cards and has only one parallel compared to the insert sets that have multiple parallels, relic parallels, and auto parallels.  

But I like the overall stately look of the base cards for the 2005 set. And you can see by how little effort that was put into the backs of the base cards how much of an afterthought they were.
