COMC Black Friday Haul #28

After scanning all my Black Friday haul cards I realized just how many 2019 cards I picked up this year.  A lot. But to be fair I've pretty much stopped using eBay for card purchases, so it makes sense most of my new year card would be from COMC.  I did splurge this year spending enough to qualify for free shipping, something I did not intend to do, but I got close enough and had quite a few cards on my watch list I wanted so why not?

One of the cards that popped up just at the right time for the right price was this 2019 1984 Tribute Silver Pack promotion gold refractor.  I had been about to pull the trigger on a different parallel from this set when this one popped up at a cheaper price point so it gets to come home to me.  The scan really doesn't do this card justice, it's very shiny and gold!!!!

COMC Black Friday Haul #27

I'm a sucker for gimmicks and for the most part that means I have no problem with Topps manufactured relics craze.  I do take issue that these count as hits in products, but that's another rant for another day.  I've been waiting to pick up one of these 2018 Commemorative All-Star "Patches" cards for awhile.  I put the patches in quotes as this is not what I would really call a patch, it's more of a plastic or rubberized disc, but I digress.  I do find it a little amusing that I ended up picking up the black parallel version and have still yet to find a base version in my price range.  But the black parallel really does look good.

2020 Donruss Baseball Ultimate Robin Yount Checklist

Robin is featured in the base sub-set Retro 86.  And has all the base parallels 23 by the Panini spreadsheet.  I'll add images as stuff starts popping up.

COMC Black Friday Haul #26

I picked up some nice parallels this last card season.  One of those was this Panini Classics Time Tributes Silver parallel.  There are two other Timeless Tributes parallels the Gold and Platinum, numbered to 25 and 1, so the likelyhood of those parallel falling into the collection are slim, but I'm glad to be able to add this fairly low numbered card.  While not as terrible as some of the other cards Robin has in Panini products it's still not great.  Not so terrible that I'm not going to add this card to the collection, but still...  The airbrushing isn't huge on the card with just the batting helmet logo gone and the uniform color isn't as terrible as some of the other cards I've seen where it's recolored to a dark navy blue and almost black.  Nice little blurb on the back with career totals.

COMC Black Friday Haul #25

I've had my eye on this card for over a year.  It sat in my watch list forever.  The asking price was just a little too high for my liking.  But last Spring during COMC's other big sale, the Spring Cleaning sale, the card came down to a nice price point and I scooped it up.  2005 was a big year for Robin Yount cards and there are so many parallels and inserts to chase.  There are actually more base parallels in the set, five, than inserts sets, two.  Now to chase down a few more of those.

COMC Black Friday Haul #24

OK here's my problem with Archives. Or rather here's my problem with Robin's cards in Archives.  The 2018 base set had three designs, 1959, 1977, and 1981 Topps.  Robin was actually featured in 2 of those sets, so why couldn't he have been featured in the 1959 design for Archives?  I mean I like the photo used and I don't hate the 1977 design, but I've got Robin's real 1977 Topps card no need to reimagine it.  Ahem yeah I'm a little cranky this morning.  Anyways the purple parallels are numbered to just 175 copies and look very nice in hand.  I'm a sucker for the purple cards.

COMC Black Friday Haul #23

It seems almost every year while shopping on COMC during Black Friday I manage to find a card or two that has slipped past me.  The 2005 Pristine Legends was the only year Topps produced the HOF/Retired set, and 2005 would be the last year for the Pristine brands 4 year run.  The Legends set had a different configuration than the regular Pristine set.  Each hobby box held 5 packs.  Each pack contained 6 base cards, one uncirculated refractor and one relic card.  There was one autograph per hobby box replacing the relic.  I already had two of the serial numbered uncirculated base refractors, but somehow missed picking up Robin's base card from this set.  Robin also has a relic and autograph to chase in this set.

Continuing my Black Friday Haul pick ups from COMC and keeping with the 2019 stuff, next up we have Robin's 2019 Allen and Ginter No Number back mini parallel.  While this parallel isn't serial numbered these are limited to a print run of 50.  I was excited to be able to add this parallel to my collection for a great price during the Black Friday sale.  Still amazes me that Topps screwed the numbering up so bad in the set, missing 50 whole cards.

COMC Black Friday Haul #21

I still haven't quite figured out what is up with Topps celebrating it's sets 35th anniversary.  Maybe someone out there knows the reason or why that particular anniversary was chosen.  Anywho Robin was featured in both 84 sets.  I really like the overall look of the 1984 All-Star insert set and the border color parallel cards really do pop.  The black version of this card is awesome, still looking to track one of those down.  The blue parallel set is unnumbered.  I do love the blurb about Robin coming up with his Robinade brand lemonade to help fund his charity.  I just picture him in a lab coat working diligently to come up with just the right level of sweetness.

I picked up quite a few or Robin's 2019 Prizm parallels with this year's haul from COMC.  The blue mojo parallel differs from the base blue parallel with the inlay design and being serial numbered to 399.  Just one of 27 flavors of parallel prizm cards to chase in the set.  Not much else to say about the card that I already haven't said about the base card and other parallels already featured.
