I've decided to open the vault and pull out another Sterling gem. Still one of my favorite high end sets, even if the autographs are stickers. I think I like the set so much because it was player focused. Intensely player focused. I won't go into the whole set layout you can read
about it here if you don't remember.
One of three quad relic autos I own from the set. The card numbering is a little insane for the set as well. This card number 4SMA-146 is not different. But let's decifer what the coding means. The 4 means four relics, the SMA stands for Sterling Moment Autgraph and of course the 146 is the card number in that set. Topps also went one step more and numbered each card with a player specific numbered. This card is RY61, or Robin Yount 61. I'm not sure exactly how many cards Robin has in the set, but it's well over 100 when you count all those Sterling Silver 1 of 1 cards.
The biggest problem I have with this set is the people who sell the cards. Believe it or not with as many cards that are in this set and how confusing and cumbersome the set numbering is sellers don't seem to bother with listing it, or include a scan or photo of the back of the card. These cards are pretty awesome to gaze upon and most sellers listing go like this:
Awesome Robin Yount Autograph Relic card. The End.
I'm ranting, but as a Yount collector and a self appointed Robin Yount baseball card historian I love filling holes at the TCDB. These cards are rare and some are seldom seen so the more information about a card I can find the better. OK rant over check out my Awesome Robin Yount Autograph Relic card!
