2017 Topps Tier One Yount Checklist and Gallery

While the majority of Brewer's cards in the set feature Ryan Braun, Robin does have a few to chase.  I'll add images as stuff shows up.

2017 Topps Museum Collection Robin Yount Checklist and Gallery

The Brewers have very few cards in this year's offering of Museum Collection and even few that aren't Ryan Braun.  But Robin does have a few, and I do mean just a few cards in the set.  I'll added card images when stuff starts popping up.

Ladies and Gentlemen, my favorite baseball player of all-time!!

2010 Topps Series 1 Hat Logo Manurelic

Card Manufacturer: Topps
Year: 2010
Card Set: Series 1 Baseball
Card Number: MHR-94
Card Type: Insert
Insert Set: Manufactured Hat Logos
Card Attributes: Manurelic, Serial Numbered
Serial Number: 68/99

Wow what a crappy scan.  Robin has 3 cards in the Hat Logo set.  While I'm not a huge fan of manurelic cards, I really like this set.  You get a large patch and being numbered to just 99 are fairly rare, but not so much to be unattainable.

2013 Topps Museum Collection Blue Parallel

Year: 2013
Manufacturer: Topps
Set: Museum Collection
Card Number: 27
Card Type: Base parallel
Parallel Set: Blue
Card Attributes: Serial Numbered
Serial Number: 08/99

Some parallels just stick out.  That can be good or bad, For Robin's 2013 Museum Collection Blue parallel card the blue border with gold strip match the Brewers colors so well this card really pops.

Robin has a card in the Perspectives insert set in this year's Bunt physical and there are a few serial numbered parallels as well.  I'll post images as soon as they start showing up.

1991 Star Stellar #31

Card Manufacturer: Star
Card Set: Stellar
Year: 1991
Card Number: 31
Card Type: Base

It's been awhile since I posted one of Robin's Star cards.  Part of the Stellar set card #31 commemorates Robin's 3 All-Star appearances.  And that is about all I have to say.

2017 Panini Diamond Kings Robin Yount Checklist and Gallery

Robin has one card in this year's set and a couple parallels to chase, both pretty rare.  I'll add images once this is released and I find them.

1991 Donruss

Year: 1991
Manufacturer: Donruss
Set: Flagship Baseball
Card Number: 272
Card Type: Base

How about we slow it way down and just back into the junk wax era?  1991 Donruss isn't my favorite, but it, in my opinion, was a vast improvement over the 1990 puke design.  Still about as basic as it gets, the borders do bring back memories of the late 80's -early 90's pop culture designs. Still not a bad looking card, the blue border goes well with the Brewer's team colors and we get a nice portrait of Robin hanging out.  The backs are still the same as they ever were.

1987 Classic Green

Year: 1987
Card Manufacturer: Classic
Card Set: Classic Baseball Trivia Game
Card Number: 44
Card Type: Base

In the 80's everyone had a gimmick. Topps gave you gum, Donruss, puzzle pieces, Fleer, it was stickers.  Classic it was all about trivia.  Early on the only way to get Classic cards was to by the sets or games.  If my memory serves me correctly later on Classic did offer packs, but most early cards were only available in whole sets.  Usually a blister pack that included a game board and spinner.  There were also travel sets and add-ons.  Still over all the Classic cards competed very well with the big three at the time and the overall design is simple, but not unappealing. And the sets included a good sampling of the players of the day.

2003 Upper Deck Sweet Spot Classic Jersey Card

Year: 2003
Manufacturer: Upper Deck
Set: Sweet Spot Classic
Card Number: SJ-RY
Card Type: Insert, Relic
Card Set: Game Jerseys
Card Attributes: Relic
Relic Type: Jersey

I never personally opened any Sweet Spot product.  I'm cheap what can I say.  For me the risk / reward ratio is way too skewed.  But I've always loved the Sweet Spot Classic project, because its focus is retired players and HOFers that have had established careers.  And the checklist is chocked full of greats.  Here we have Robin's base relic in the set.  The overall design is pretty meh, but at least we get a muli-colored swatch which was what relic cards were all about in the early 2000's, that sweet pinstripe.

2017 Panini Donruss Robin Yount Checklist and Gallery

Robin is featured pretty well in this year's Donruss Baseball.  While he doesn't have a base card he is in a few insert sets and has at least a few relic cards and I'm not sure if the Diamond Collection is an auto set or not. 20 new cards to chase.  I'll archive images here when this stuff stars showing up.

1983 Permagraphics

Year: 1983
Manufacturer: Topps
Set: Permagraphics
Card Number: NNO

I have to say I really do love these oddball Permagraphics "cards".   Offered as a mail order product in the pages of Baseball Digest these were offered for a number of years and back in the 80's the full sets weren't that cheap.  That being said you can find these cards around for a couple bucks.  I've included one of the offers below from 1982.  Thanks to Tony L, who I borrowed the image from.

If I remember right there were two different sets offered in 1983 year. This All-Star set and a Superstar set and there were also Gold parallel cards as well, but I'm not sure how those were offered. The Trading Card Database lists this card as #9, but there is no numbering on the card.  Still a cool oddball in the sea of cardboard.

2003 Upper Deck Sweet Spot Classic World Series Commemorative Patch

Year: 2003
Manufacture: Upper Deck
Set: Sweet Spot Classic
Card Number: P-RY3
Card Type: Insert
Insert Set: Commemorative Manufactured Patches
Card Attributes: Manufactured Relic, Serial Numbered
Serial Number: 333/350

Manufactured Patches, what are they good for?  Absolutely noth.....oh never mind.

Topps wasn't the only manufacturer putting out manufactured "relics".  Robin actually has 3 cards in this insert set.  Two are hand numbered.  I have to say these cards are not all the appealing.  There is too much opening for the patches and if you look at a lot of these some of them were not glued on very straight.  But I do like the look of the patch and it does commemorate the one golden time in the Brewers history, even if they didn't win the 1982 World Series.

2016 Panini Diamond Kings Heritage Collection

Year: 2016
Manufacturer: Panini
Set: Diamond Kings
Card Number: HC1
Card Type: Insert
Insert Set: Heritage Collection

Maybe it's just me, but I love getting new Yount cards. And I'm not talking about autos and relics.  I'm talking about just a nice plain old insert like this one here.  Sure it doesn't have logos and Robin's photo is in black and white, which is probably better then having to look at the terrible photoshop colors Panini changes the uniforms to.

Overall a pretty appealing card the gold foil works well with the dark card.

1990 Panini Sticker

Year: 1990
Manufacturer: Panini
Set: Panini Baseball Stickers
Card Number: 92
Card Type: Base

We all might think of Panini as one of the big three in terms of sport card manufacturers now, but back before they bought Donruss they were pretty much only known in the US for their stickers and sticker albums.

A nice action shot of Robin running the bases.  Overall the design is nice and simple.  Nothing really interesting on the back, because after all this was a sticker.  And sticker backs get thrown away once the sticker is peeled.

2008 Topps Triple Threads

Year: 2008
Manufacturer: Topps
Set: Triple Threads
Card Number: 138
Card Type: Base
Card Attributes: Serial Numbered
Serial Number: 0706/1350

2008 would mark the third year for Topps mid-high end brand.  The base cards were still serial numbered and the inserts still all looked the same.  I guess that's the one constant through the years with triple threads.  Relics and autograph cards still all kind of look the same.

Still the Triple Threads base cards are fun to chase down and collect.  They don't number the base cards anymore and I would suspect that eventually Topps will just do away with the base set.

2008 Donruss Threads Century Stars

Year: 2008
Manufacturer: Donruss
Set: Threads
Card Number: CS-13
Card Type: Insert
Insert Set: Century Stars

2008 would mark Donruss' return to the baseball card game.  Donruss lost their MLB license in 2005 and never got it back.  I don't remember if there was a big tado over this set, but you can clearly see parts of logos and team colors looked true.  Of course Upper Deck made sure that you couldn't get away with this anymore. And this would be the last year before Donruss was aquired by Panini.

I was really excited when this set came out.  Robin was featured in the main checklist and was in the inserts and had lots of parallels, relics, and autos to chase.  Through my collecting life I've gone through ebbs and flows with collecting.  That mainly had to do with what I was doing for work.  My first be reawakening came in 2002 when I discovered ebay and had time to spend lots of money.  It didn't hurt, or maybe it did, that 2002 was also a great year for Robin's relic cards and inserts.  But my second great awakening came in 2008 and I'll be honest I've been riding the crest of that wave for awhile now.

The base insert itself is fine, but like all the inserts it's made for the relic and auto versions.  There are also serial numbered parallels to chase.

2010 Topps Tribute Triple Bat Relic Black Parallel

Card Manufacturer: Topps
Year: 2010
Card Set: Topps Tribute
Card Number: TTR-RY
Card Type: Triple Relic Parallel
Relic Type: Bat
Parallel Type: Black
Card Attributes: Bat memorabilia, Serial Numbered
Serial Number: 47/50

2010 was a good year for me.  I got a new job, moved to the big city up here in Alaska, and I bought a house.  All pretty big stuff.  2010 wasn't not a huge year for new Yount cards.  The Trading Card Database list just 69 cards, cross referencing with Beckett, they list 76.  That said Robin did grace a lot of Topps' sets that year.  He didn't have a base card in the 2010 Tribute set, but did have multiple relic cards.

I wish I remembered where and when I picked this card up.  I'm positive it was off of ebay, but the other details escape me.  As far as relics go it's pretty boring. Three pieces of bat with the grain all going the same way.  And the back of the card is no better.   So much wasted space up top too.  The triple relics do have an autograph version and if Robin had had an autographed version of this card, which he does not, that's what would have gone in that big void by his head.

2005 Donruss Classics Legendary Players insert

Year: 2005
Manufacturer: Donruss
Set: Donruss Classics
Card Number: LP-37
Card Type: Insert
Insert Set: Legendary Players (Base Insert)
Card Attributes: Serial Numbered
Serial Number: 756/800

Robin has over 1000 cards to chase from 2005.  That's a lot of cards.  And while I know I'll never get them all it's always fun to find a new one or to chase one down.  Robin is included in a couple insert sets from the 2005 Donruss Classics set.  And of course like all insert sets from Donruss around this time there are parallels upon parallels to chase down.  But even the base cards to these inserts were fairly limited.   The base card for the insert is fairly uneventful since like all insert cards from this set it was designed for the relic and autograph parallel versions. Robin gets the honor of being in this set for his two 4 hit games during the 1982 World Series.

1990 Ames Department Store Box Set

Year: 1990
Card Manufacturer: Topps
Set: Ames Department Store Box set
Card Number: 5
Card Type: Base
Set Type: Box set

The late 80's and early 90's saw a ton of these small box sets.  The nice thing about these sets is they featured all the great players at the time.  So even though they were overproduced they were decent quality and were a cheap way to pick up some cards of your favorite players.

Ames was a department store chain based on the East Coast that officially ceased business in 2002.  But they, like a lot of their competators, got caught up in the box set craze of the time.  Ames put out two sets.  One in 1989 that featured the 20/20 players and this set put out in 1990 featuring the top active career leaders in runs produced.  And luckily we get a nice Robin Yount card out of the deal.  These cards are the stuff of dime boxes and repacks now and could easily set you back a whole nickel if you try.  But not a bad looking card and a great set with a great checklist.

2015 Topps Gypsy Queen Mini

Card Manufacturer: Topps
Year: 2015
Card Set: Gypsy Queen
Card Number: 21
Card Type: Mini Parallel
Parallel Type: Base Mini Parallel

I'm a sucker for these mini cards.  I love'em.  Robin's been a fixture in every Gypsy Queen set since the inaugural release in 2011.  More often then not he's got a base card in the set, sometimes it's just a relic or other insert.  He's also been award a pretty prestigious honor of also being paralleled in the exclusive mini box variations that get put in hobby boxes.  This card is not one of those variations.  It's just the plain old base mini parallel.  But still a nice looking card.
