The Creme de la Creme - 2008 Topps Sterling Quad Relic Auto

Card Manufacturer: Topps
Card Set: Sterling
Year: 2008
Card Number: 4CSA-126
Player Card Number: RY88
Card Type: Insert Auto Quad Relic
Card Attributes: Autographed, Quad Relic, Serial Numbered
Serial Number: 08/10
Relic Types: Jersey/Pants, Bat

I think for any player collector there are usually a few cards that define their collection.  I don't have a ton of Yount autographs in my collection, but I do have a few.  Back in 2008 or 2009 I had a pretty reliable desposible income and picked up a few higher end cards.
2008 Topps Sterling was a pretty neat offering.  It featured HOFers and each box had 4 cards, plus a bonus mystery pack.  When I won this card it came with the original box, band, and the 3 other Yount base cards.  The base cards were only numbered to 250 and it took me a while to hunt down all 11 for my collection, but getting 3 with this deal was pretty sweet.

You couldn't tell what player was featured in the box, but lots of dealers opened the boxes to find out who was  inside.

The inner box was a cool white hinged box that held the cards and around the box was a band that had the name of the player featured in the box.

I put the card in a hard case and cut the foam in the box so it would fit. It makes for a really nice display. Even if the box was made in China.
It's a beautiful quad relic auto. It is kind of sad that this high end product used sticker autos though. All these relic auto cards were numbered to 10 or less, but to be fair Topps made hundreds of variations.  I do like that each relic is it's own piece, not like Triple Threads were they use a large swatch and cover it with multiple letters.

2014 Allen and Ginter

Card Manufacturer: Topps
Card Set: Allen and Ginter
Year: 2014
Card Number: 205
Card Type: Base

This marks the second year in a row that Robin's been featured on a Allen and Ginter card.  As a matter of fact I think Robin's been in well over 80% of the Topps products this year if not more.  And that's great for a guy like me you likes cheap additions to the collection.  Of course Topps has recycled a heavily used image here, although cropped and "Ginterized". But the card looks good and if I ever get the chance to meet the man again this will look great signed.  I actually really like the look of this year Allen and Ginter and Robin has all the parallels that go along with having a card in the base set.  I'll be picking those up when I can find them.

I do miss the old uniforms sometimes.  Maybe not the baby blue so much, but the classic white with blue pinstripping and the hat with the old mitt logo is awesome.

Here's a little bit of trivia for you too.  We know that the image used here was taken back in 1988, because that was the year that the Brewers wore the H/K patch to honor their late manager Harvey Kuenn. Discuss.

2014 Topps Finest - Finest Greats Xfractor Autograph

Card Manufactuer: Topps
Card Set: Finest
Year: 2014
Card Number: FGA-RY
Card Type: Insert
Insert Set: Finest Greats Autographs
Sub type: X-Fractor
Card Attributes: Autographed, Serial Numbered
Serial Number: 048/149

I was super excited to see this card in my mailbox today.  This year's Finest is very sparse with Brewers. As a matter of fact there are only 3 featured in the base set with all the parallels. No Brewer graces any of the inserts except for Robin's auto in the Finest Greats set.

Besides the xfractor auto there are also all the other parallels associated with this insert. I'm pretty happy just to have gotten this one for a decent price. I most likely will not be pursuing the others, but this card now has a good home.  The scans don't do the shiny goodness justice and it's been a long time since I added a new autograph card to the collection.

2007 Upper Deck SP Legendary Cuts #67

Card Manufacturer: Upper Deck
Card Set: SP Legendary Cuts
Year:  2007
Card Number: 67
Card Type: Base

In 2001 Upper Deck put out it's first Legendary Cuts product and continued to do so up until it lost it's MLB license.

The design reminds me of the old cabinet cards of yore. A really nice design for a set mostly known for it's great hits. The base set featured 100 cards and no parallels.  Robin has a bunch of relic cards in this set as well and I think he might have an auto or two as well.

2014 Topps Archives Silver Foil Parallel

Card Manufacturer: Topps
Card Set: Topps Archives
Year:  2014
Card Number: 96
Card Type: Base Parallel
Parallel Set: Silver Foil
Card Attributes: Serial Numbered
Serial Number: 10/99

This was the second year in a row Robin was issued a card in Topps Archives set. Robin was put on the 1980's design. I think it would have been better had he gotten on the 1973 design since he had actual cards issued for him in all the other design years featured this year, but at least they used a different picture.  And with getting a base card you also get all the other parallels that go along with that.  This year there were two the Gold #d to 199 and these Silver parallels #d to 99.  There are also the 4 printing plates as well.
I apologize for the crappy scan.  The scratches and stains are from the scanner, top loader and penny sleeve not the card.  And the scan doesn't do the card justice.  A nice shiny parallel for the collection.
