COMC Black Friday Haul #42

Keeping with the last couple posts we have another parallel to show off.  One of the things I really love about COMC and one of the main reasons it's become my primary online shopping source is it allows me to play the long game when it comes to picking up parallels like this.  Had I tried to pick this up off of eBay back in 2015 it would have likely cost me close to $10 with shipping.  That's a lot more than I paid for it or would have wanted to pay for it.  Overall I love the card and photo choice.  I would gripe about the photo being overused, but to be fair there are multiple photos of Robin in this pose taken throughout his career.  It's very possible this is reused image, as in  Topps was reusing lots of the same image over and over around this time frame.  Still a great card and still low numbered and a great addition to the collection

2015 Panini Cooperstown Crown Royal Silver Parallel

Year: 2015
Manufacturer: Panini
Set: Cooperstown
Card Number: 82
Card Type: Insert Parallel
Insert Set: Crown Royale
Parallel Set: Silver
Card Attributes: Die-cut, Serial Numbered
Serial Number: 63/75

I've been building a small stack of cards in my portfolio over at COMC.  While good deals on Robin's cards can be few and far between they do happen and I've been steadily picking up store credit with their Challanges and picking up cards when I find a good deal.  I ended up throwing $20  in my account as well this year, an early Christmas present to myself and it helped me get over the 20 card threshold for free shipping during COMC's big Black Friday promotion.  I picked up quite a few cards for my player collections.  The majority were for Frank Thomas, but I did get 8 new Younts which I will be featuring.

First up is the this very shiny Crown Royale insert card from this year's Cooperstown set.  I have yet to add a base card from the set to my collection, but I now have a very low numbered insert.  You can see Robin's full card checklist from the set here and an explanation of all the confusing inserts here.

I'm pretty happy with this one.  It was the second most expensive card I purchased for Black Friday, but was still very reasonable.

2015 Topps Gypsy Queen Silver Mini

Card Manufacturer: Topps
Card Set: Gypsy Queen
Year: 2015
Card Number: 21
Card Type: Insert Parallel
Insert Type: Mini
Parallel Type: Silver
Card Attributes: Serial Numbered
Serial Number 039/199

I recently added a few of Robin's 2015 Gypsy Queen cards.  My favorite out of the bunch was this numbered Silver Mini parallel card.  Robin's been featured in just about every Gypsy Queen release and has all the mini parallels and framed parallels that go along with that this year.  I like this year's card. The classic pose and the very vibrant jersey really pop on the card.

2014 Topps Archives Silver Foil Parallel

Card Manufacturer: Topps
Card Set: Topps Archives
Year:  2014
Card Number: 96
Card Type: Base Parallel
Parallel Set: Silver Foil
Card Attributes: Serial Numbered
Serial Number: 10/99

This was the second year in a row Robin was issued a card in Topps Archives set. Robin was put on the 1980's design. I think it would have been better had he gotten on the 1973 design since he had actual cards issued for him in all the other design years featured this year, but at least they used a different picture.  And with getting a base card you also get all the other parallels that go along with that.  This year there were two the Gold #d to 199 and these Silver parallels #d to 99.  There are also the 4 printing plates as well.
I apologize for the crappy scan.  The scratches and stains are from the scanner, top loader and penny sleeve not the card.  And the scan doesn't do the card justice.  A nice shiny parallel for the collection.
