2023 Topps Transcendent Yount Checklist

 Once again Robin has a few very rare cards to chase in this insanely expensive offering.  Topps has upped production again to 190 cases, err boxes, whatever, and they've mixed up the make up of the product which is nice. It makes it a little more random what you get per box, err case?  Anyways here's the Yount checklist and if I find any images I'll archives them here.

Not sure how I missed this big boy at the end of the year, but once again Topps is putting out another of it's super ultra mega premium Transcendent releases.  Which Robin is in the base auto checklist and a couple of the other inserts.  I'll add images when they start popping up.

Way back in January I requested my COMC stack and after watching an interview with COMC's CEO I realized that was the worst possible time to request shipment.  I won't bore you with the COMC rant, but 7 months later my package finally arrived.  In it I had over 160 cards and a huge stack of new in hand Yount cards.  So why not start showing those off with, what I think is, the best of the bunch.

Topps released the first Transcendent set way back in 2016 and Robin was included in the sketch card in that release.  He's had a card here and there in subsequent releases, but in 2019 he was again featured in the sketch cards and reproduction set.  The original Transcendent set was limited to just 65 cases, and every year since Topps has increased the print run.  

I'm not exactly sure who did the art for this card.  I know Dan Bergen did a bunch but I think Mayumi Seto might have also contributed and maybe another artist.  I figured that info would be easy to find, but it's not.  The back of the card doesn't state the artist either.  Regardless, it's a beautiful card set in a very heavy frame.

Yesterday I finally got my COMC package from their Black Friday event.  I picked up a ton of new Younts from the Black Friday sale, but I also had a bunch of cards sitting in my portfolio that I had been picking up all year since the last Black Friday sale.  The package took almost 2 weeks to get to me.  COMC used Pitney Bowes as a third party shipper.  If COMC had just put my package in the mailbox or had USPS pick it up it most likely would have been in my mailbox about 3 days after mailing in from Redmond, Washington.  Instead the package took a trip to Nevada, then spent 4 days in California and then disappeared for 4 or 5 days till it showed up in my mailbox.  That being said my cards were very well packaged and none were damaged and to be fair COMC's delivery estimate was January 4th.  Ahem anyways, this year I picked up 53 new Younts from COMC. COMC has become my main avenue for picking up new Younts.  So for the next couple months I'll be presenting all the new cards I picked up.

First up is the one card I really wanted to get my hands on and it was by far the most expensive card I've ever bought off of COMC.  But this card also happens to come from, at least at the time, the most expensive baseball card product every made.  I had been watching what some of these Sketch Reproduction card have gone for in the past and I was happy to pick it up for about $25.  I picked this card up during COMC's Spring Cleaning sale way back earlier in the year and have been looking at it in my portfolio just waiting to get it in hand.  I have no illusions that I'll ever own the original sketch of this card, but I'm happy to add this unique card to my collection.  And this one will start off the COMC Black Friday collection posts.

Robin is again featured in the most expensive baseball card product in the world.  And like the first time he's featured in the original sketch set and reproductions, but also has a couple autos, literally two, both numbered 1 of 1.

2018 Topps Transcendent Yount Checklist

Robin was featured in the art card checklist in the inaugural 2016 set.  This year Robin has one card, literally one card in 2018 Topps Transcendent set.  I'll add an image of it if it ever sees the light of day.

2016 Topps Trancendent

Topps Transcendent is being released tomorrow.  If you haven't heard it's the new high mark for a baseball card product with prices per box around $25,000!

It's crazy, you get 52 autographs, that's broken down into 3 1/1's, with one being a Kris Bryant, and a mix of base autos numbered to 52, and parallel autos.  And according to Topps you get at least one auto from each of the 42 signers in the set, so there will be signers that you get a base auto and a parallel.  You also get a base set of cards the set is called MLB Icons, all numbered to 65 and if I read it right they all have the same serial number.  You also get a cut auto box topper, an original sketch card and a reproduction set of all the sketch card subjects.  Is it worth $25,000?  Meh.

I bring it up here because while Robin is not a featured signer or in the base set, he is featured in the sketch cards.  So that means he'll have an original sketch card and a reproduction numbered to 65!
