2007 Upper Deck Premier: Premier Penmanship Autograph card.

Card Manufacturer: Upper Deck
Card Set: UD Premier
Year:  2007
Card Number: PEN-RY
Card Type: Insert Autograph
Insert Set: Premier Penmanship
Card Attributes: Autographed, Serial Numbered
Serial Number: 69/74

I own a few Yount autos.  Not a ton, because they tend to go for a good price and prices for his autographed cards have definitely gone up in the last few years.  And that's great for the overall value of my collection, but that doesn't help in picking up new cards.  Anyway I picked this guy up a few years back and I'm sure I didn't get it cheap, but I can't remember.  And to be honest I had forgotten I even had this card till I was scanning in cards from the collection to post on here and for my own inventory purposes.  Sure I have this indexed in my Yount spreadsheet and on my Collection page, but sometimes you just lose track of this stuff. And that's a shame because this really is a great card and one I'm glad to have in the collection.  Yep it's a sticker auto, but a damn nice card and very low numbered. As a matter of fact these cards are numbered to the players rookie year and for Robin that was 1974.

This set was another super premium offering from Upper Deck with one 7 card pack per box.  But it was pretty loaded. As a matter of fact all but two of the cards were in the box were suppose to be relics, autos or auto relics.  So the base and rookie cards that come with it were sometimes a harder pull and those too were serial numbered.

2007 Upper Deck Ultimate: America's Pastime Gold Jersey #d to 25

Card Manufacturer: Upper Deck
Card Set: Ultimate
Year:  2007
Card Number: PM-RY
Card Type: Insert Relic
Insert Set: America's Pastime Gold Game-Used Jersey
Card Attributes: Jersey Relic, Serial Numbered
Serial Number: 16/25

I miss the competition in the baseball card market.  And I miss great simple relic cards like this.  Back in 2007 boxes of Ultimate were about $200 bucks and each box had 4 packs with 4 cards in each pack.  Each pack had 2 relics and one auto, on average.  I can't remember when I picked this up, but sorting through my collection I was struck by just how simple this card is.  The relic window is pretty small, but overall the design is appealing and the holofoil on the card makes it pop.  The baby blue swatch was a nice change up from all the white and pinstripe relics out there.  Of course being numbered to 25 and being the gold parallel you'd expect something more exciting for the relic though. The America's Pastime shield is a nice touch.

2014 Topps Museum Collection has hit and there are a lot of Younts

I was just looking at the listings on ebay and noticed that there are already quite a few Younts listed from the new Museum Collection.  Robin has a base card again this year and all the parallels that go with it and he also has a few autos and relics.  Here are a few of the ones I've found so far.

 Robin's base card is #67

He also gets a Captured on Canvas card this is CCR-36

New Yount - For Mayor Wall Art

I got an email from Topps today advertising their newest offering from their website.  They are offering new wall art featuring the 1967 for Mayor test issue sticker set.  The cards feature 20 Hall of Famers and are limited to just 99 copies.  These are 11 x 17 inches and are $49.95 each. You can also buy the complete set for $899.99, which is a 10% discount and you also get a more exclusive American flag print numbered to 10. I only took note of this when I noticed that they would be offering a Robin Yount print.  Of course shipping up to Alaska is about $20 for the cheapest option.  You can check them all out here at Topps website.

Here is what the Yount one looks like and the complete checklist is below.  An interesting oddball item, but I think I'll pass with that price.  These are only available till the end of March.

1976 Topps

Card Manufacturer: Topps
Card Set: Topps Baseball
Year:  1976
Card Number: 316
Card Type: Base

Going way back to Robin's sophomore card.  1976 would be Robin's 3rd season in the big leagues and it would be another great year for him. In 1975 Robin played all by 14 games, in 1976 Robin played every game!  He also had a more RBI's and hits than the year before.

1976 Topps is a great design. Clean and with a bright well shot posed photo. Easy to read lettering below and a cool graphic on the front.  The backs were well organized and with plenty of room for stats and fun facts and of course a nice large number in the upper left hand corner for easy collation

Cool Cards I'll Never Own

Here's another cool card I found surfing ebay.  This card probably lost a third of it's value last year with Braun's PED suspension, but back in 2011 I wouldn't have been surprised if a couple of these cards went for close to a grand.  All things considered it does feature two of the best Brewers of all time and in 2011 what looked like the third. Still would be a cool card to own, but not for what the seller wants.
