2016 Panini Donruss 1982 insert

Year: 2016
Manufacturer: Panini
Set: Donruss Baseball
Card Type: Insert
Insert Set: 1982 Donruss
Card Number: D82-48

Wow it's been awhile since I posted.  It's that time of year again and my work schedule really ramps up.  So my posts will be fewer and far between this summer I'm sure, but lets enjoy one of mine and Robin's newest cards.  Robin is featured in the Donruss 1982 insert set.  The set of course mimics the 1982 Donruss design.  The backs not so much.  This set also has a ton of parallels to chase.

2016 Topps Series 1 Commemorative Team Logo Pin

Year: 2016
Manufacturer: Topps
Card Type: Insert
Insert Set: Commemorative Team Logo Pin
Card Number: TLP-RY
Card Attribute: Manufactured Relic

Topps has been including a manufactured relic set in it's flagship for years now.  From it's retail blaster box exclusive ones to the hobby boxes.  This year Robin was featured in the Commemorative Team Logo Pins.  There are no parallels to this set and cards aren't numbered, so I was able to finally pick this card up very reasonably.  If I remember correctly the actual manurelic is manufactured in China, but the cards are still printed and assembled in Topps' Duryea, Pennsylvania plant.

The card is very think and heavy. These would be super easy to pick out of hobby packs by hand simply for the weight.  The overall look is pretty high class. It reminds me of Tribute and Dynasty, with maybe a dash of Triple Threads and Tier One or Museum Collection thrown in.

Robin gets a couple cards in this year's Diamond Kings.  One insert and an autograph each with one parallel and all are pretty rare except for the Heritage Collection base insert.  I'll post more images when I find them.

2008 Topps Sterling - Sterling Moments Quad Relic Autograph 4SMA-136

Year: 2008
Manufacturer: Topps
Set: Sterling
Card Number: 4SMA-146, RY61
Card Type: Insert
Insert Set: Sterling Moments Autograph Relics
Card Attributes: Autograph, Relics, Serial Numbered
Relic Types: Bat, Uniform
Serial Number: 01/10

I've decided to open the vault and pull out another Sterling gem.  Still one of my favorite high end sets, even if the autographs are stickers.  I think I like the set so much because it was player focused.  Intensely player focused.  I won't go into the whole set layout you can read about it here if you don't remember.

One of three quad relic autos I own from the set.  The card numbering is a little insane for the set as well.  This card number 4SMA-146 is not different.  But let's decifer what the coding means.  The 4 means four relics, the SMA stands for Sterling Moment Autgraph and of course the 146 is the card number in that set.  Topps also went one step more and numbered each card with a player specific numbered.  This card is RY61, or Robin Yount 61.  I'm not sure exactly how many cards Robin has in the set, but it's well over 100 when you count all those Sterling Silver 1 of 1 cards.

The biggest problem I have with this set is the people who sell the cards.  Believe it or not with as many cards that are in this set and how confusing and cumbersome the set numbering is sellers don't seem to bother with listing it, or include a scan or photo of the back of the card.  These cards are pretty awesome to gaze upon and most sellers listing go like this:
Awesome Robin Yount Autograph Relic card.  The End.

I'm ranting, but as a Yount collector and a self appointed Robin Yount baseball card historian I love filling holes at the TCDB.  These cards are rare and some are seldom seen so the more information about a card I can find the better.  OK rant over  check out my Awesome Robin Yount Autograph Relic card!

Robin Yount was a catcher??!!??

Tom Haudricourt has a great little piece about the time Robin Yount was a catcher for the Arizona Diamondbacks. No really check it out over at his MJS blog here.

Couldn't find a picture though.
