Very rarely do I walk into my LCS and walk out with a new autographed card that goes right into my Yount PC. But last week it happened.
I had seen cards from this set pop up after Topps' VIP party. The party held for those who pulled silver or was it gold?, tickets from 2021 products. A couple people tweeted that boxes of 2021 Topps Platinum Anniversary Edition were given out to attendees. Topps has had a chrome version of these product on it's products release calendar since early last year and like Big League has been pushed back again and again.
The set features players on the 1952 Topps design and I was curious if Robin had made the set, but up until a few days ago I hadn't seen a card pop up. But now I guess we can say that yes he does have a card in the set. So one more to add to the 2021 set. I think it's safe to assume if the Chrome version of this ever actually gets released the Robin will be in that set as well. I have yet to see a checklist for this product so I'm not sure if it included parallels or not. I will update this post if I can confirm any parallels.
Leaf products always seems to fly under the radar for me and then smack me in the face with cards start showing up on ebay with Robin on them. But is in the set, although he shares a card with two other big name Wisconsin legends. The set TripliCITY Autographs is suppose to highlight 3 stars from the same city and at first I balked at this since Brett Favre is also on the card, but remembered up until 1994 Green Bay split games between Green Bay and Milwaukee.
Anyways, Leaf's checklist is lacking in actual serial numbered, and just does the #d to or less deal. So I'll update actual serial numbering as more cards and parallels show up.
Also parallels are in groups, rainbow (whatever that means rainbow foil maybe?) Crystal, and Gold Circles. I guess we'll find out what those are as stuff starts showing up.
With Robin sharing the card with Brett Favre and Giannis Antetokounmpo I imagine these cards will not be cheap no matter what parallel you go after.
Of course we have to have stragglers when it comes to the 2021 Yount checklist and coming in maybe, but likely not, last is this offering from Leaf. Leaf has kind of become known for these eclectic multi-sport offerings and Robin is in a couple of the sets. I'll neaten up serial numbering when and if I can. I'll add images as stuff starts popping up.
Greetings fellow Yount-o-philes.
Over the last couple year's the diligent members of the Trading Card Database have been adding all the minutia variations from the junk wax era. I was combing through my collection and the TCDb to see if I could add any of the new variations and I was able to add about 10 cards not previously parsed out.
I've posted about the common Donruss variation with the missing period at the end of Donruss Inc at least with the 88 set. Another variation that affects the 1990 and 1991 sets are that the borders between the retail (or rather pack distributed) cards and the one's put in the boxed factory set are different. It may be hard to see at first and if you didn't have both side by side the very 90s design might fly right by you. But on closer inspection the two border designs are almost completely different.
