2008 Topps Sterling #226

Year: 2008
Manufacturer: Topps
Set: Sterling
Card Number: 226
Player Card Number: RY10
Card Type: Base
Card Attributes: Serial numbered
Serial number: 097/250

It's kind of sad that we are getting so close to the end of this series, but I'm sure if anyone is still reading they're a little sick of 2008 Topps Sterling.  Card #226 talks about Robin's charitable work and the creation of this soft drink Robinade.  Oddly enough the website for Robinade is still up, but I can't find anything current on the product and have never seen it in stores when I'm down in Wisconsin.  I wonder if they still make it?  Anyone know?

2008 Topps Sterling #225

Year: 2008
Manufacturer: Topps
Set: Sterling
Card Number: 225
Player Card Number: RY9
Card Type: Base
Card Attributes: Serial numbered
Serial number: 099/250

Card number 225 is Robin's 9th in the series, which Topps was nice enough to number with a player number as well.  This card celebrates Robin's two MVP awards.  In 1982 I was nine and had no idea what was going on in the world of baseball really.  But I was very much into baseball in 1989 and can remember a lot of my friends pissed off that Robin won.  I think most of them wanted Cal Ripken to win that year.  In 1989 Robin took 65% of the awards share, which is significant.   But in 1982 he was voted the AL MVP with 98% share!  Yeah.  It was almost unanimous that year with one lone half wit voting for Reggie Jackson.

2015 Topps Archives Signature Edition Checklist and Gallery

I just saw the autograph subject checklist for 2015 Archives Signature Series  and Robin in on the list!  From what I could find this comes out tomorrow? maybe?  One encased autographed buyback card per box.  I'll use this post as a place to collect any information and images I can find.

Edit:
I'll be adding these to the checklist when I think we've found most of them, but it looks like with all of Robin's cards numbered to 5 or less, mostly less, there might be a few 1 of 1's that never see the light of day or are ever posted.  And given that Topps hasn't released a full checklist of cards used we may never know.

Cards found so far 16

2015 Leaf History of Baseball Cut Signature cards

I don't own one of these yet, but so far prices have been reasonable from sold listings on ebay.  I think they are averaging under $30.  The majority of cards I've seen use a signed Hall of Fame plaque postcards.  However I've found one listing that looks like a signed index card.  All cards are encased and are limited to just 46 examples.

You get one card per box, and right now boxes are going for about $50 online.

If I find any different examples I'll post them here.

Ah I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.  Card number 8 in our look at all 11 of Robin's 2008 Topps Sterling Base cards.  This card celebrates all of Robin's franchise records.  Robin still holds all of them mentioned on the card except Home Runs, which Ryan Braun has surpassed him.  Robin also holds the record for most strike outs, but that's to be expected when you also hold the record for most plate appearances.

2008 Topps Sterling #223

Year: 2008
Manufacturer: Topps
Set: Sterling
Card Number: 223
Player Card Number: RY7
Card Type: Base
Card Attributes: Serial numbered
Serial number: 068/250

Card #223 or Robin's 7th in the set celebrates his reaching the 250 Home Runs and Stolen Bases club.  Sure it's not the 500 club that's the realm of baseball gods, but still an impressive feat.  Robin would end his career with 251 homers and 271 stolen bases to be exact.

2008 Topps Sterling #222

Year: 2008
Manufacturer: Topps
Set: Sterling
Card Number: 222
Player Card Number: RY6
Card Type: Base
Card Attributes: Serial numbered
Serial number: 226/250

We've hit the halfway point in our salute to Robin's 11 Topps Sterling base cards.  Card #222 or Robin's sixth card celebrates the impressive feat of hitting for the cycle in 1988.  The other card that comes to mind when thinking for this incredible accomplishment is Robin's 2002 Upper Deck Piece of History Hitting for the Cycle card.  And while the accomplishment was from 1988 the photo featured on the card is not.  I like this card a lot simply for the fact that the nice candid portrait used for it has not been over used in other products.  As a matter of fact I'm not sure I've seen it anywhere else.
