Continuing my 2016 pick-ups from Justcommons.com.  I finally got to add Robin's Hallow Highlights insert card.  Out of all the recent issues for Robin this was probably my most desired card out of the more pedestrian ones.  I'm not sure why.  Maybe it's because out of the small 15 card set it's nice to see Robin included and recognized.  The card itself celebrates one of Robin's biggest milestones as a player and the one probably featured on the majority of his cards like this one: his 3000th hit.  I did learn something new on the back of the card.  I had never realized that all three of his milestones, 1000th, 2000th, and 3000th hits were all against the Indians.  A fact that I did verify.

I recently added 7 new Yount cards to the collection. All from 2016 sets and 6 of those were all purchased with my latest order from Justcommons.com.  As is my MO I waited till I had 3 or 4 sets I needed to pick up cards for my Brewers team sets as luck would have it there were still a few Yount inserts to be had.  Besides having a base card and all the parallels to that in this year's Stadium Club set Robin is also featured in the Legends Die-Cut set.  

I'm a big fan of oddball cards and I consider the die-cuts a little oddball.  The card is Topps Chromium and is very shiney and did I mention die-cut?  These fall one per box, so out of a set of 10 a harder pull.

One of these bad boys finally made it's way into the collection.  I had been biding my time and finally found one at a very affordable price.  People go either way on these manurelics. I'm torn.  I like them when like this card it's inserted as a bonus in blaster boxes.  I don't like it when they count as a hit in my hobby box.  

It's a nice looking card celebrating Robin's first appearance in a MLB game.  I was not quite a year old.  The card is thick and the medallion pretty hefty.  I like the vintage Yount image. Heck that could be from 1974.

This year's National is in Atlantic City in early August.  As promised here is the information for Robin's signing.  You can buy tickets and see the whole schedule at Tristar's website.

Robin will be signing on Sunday, August 7th at 11:00am.  Prices seem pretty high to me with a regular auto ticket costing $99. And it just goes up from there.  I noticed Frank Thomas is actually lower.  

Around the same time SCP Auctions will be auctioning off a bunch of Robin's consigned items.

Fresh out of a pack.  It's the best way to add a new Yount to my collection and doesn't happen all that often.  As a matter of fact I just ordered a few of these from JustCommons for my Yount collection and my Brewers team set, but I'll take a pulled Yount anyday.  

Robin is featured on the 1953 design. It's a great looking card, but I'm a little disappointed that someone at Topps couldn't have made the logo box fit the logo.  I understand that the rectangle fits the current Brewers logo. I've added Jorge Lopez's card for comparison.   There is nothing quite like that rectangle in the original 53 set and it seems a little lazy not to make the box fit the logo.  But other than that the card looks great and I love seeing Robin featured on set designs that he was never featured in. Beats seeing him on the 1991 design.

On the Auction Block SCP to auction off a lot of Yount Memorabilia

I get news feeds from all over the collecting world.  Recently Sports Collector's Daily had an article about an upcoming auction over at SCP that will feature some of Robin's finest memorabilia from his personnel collection.

There are some truly incredible items up for grabs.  Robin's 3000th hit ball and bat, a vintage 1976 jersey, game used gloves, and more.  The article says dozens of items, so it's a little vague on the total number of items, but the 3000th hit ball and bat are probably the pinnacle of items offered.

When I saw the auction notice I was a little disheartened.  My first thoughts were that Robin might be in some financial trouble and need the money these items will bring, but it could also be he's just cleaning out the closet, making space, or decluttering.  Regardless someone with much deeper pockets than me is going to walk away with some great memorabilia.  I'm also curious how many items might be scooped up by the trading card companies?  But I doubt they would fork out the big money that items like this go for in these specialized auctions.

2002 Topps 206 Mini Carolina Brights Back Pinstripe

I featured this cards twin or rather other image variation back in November of 2015.  If any card or cards were my white whales these were probably it.  I absolutely love the 2002 Topps 206 set.  I loved the hits, the design, the inclusion of the tobacco sized minis, the variations to chase.  I loved it all and I opened quite a bit of this back in the day.  I especially loved that Robin was included in the checklist.  

In my mind it's this set that helped set up what we have today.  From all of Topps' vintage sets like Allen and Ginter and Gypsy Queen to Upper Decks Goodwin Champions and Goudey releases.  And while this is was not the first set to feature tobacco sized mini's it was the first one to make them popular and having multiple back variations to chase added to the fun or frustration.
