2013 Topps Gypsy Queen - Lots of Robin to find

I already posted something about Mr. Yount showing up in this years Allen and Ginter coming in July, but I spaced thinking he might be in this years Gyspy Queen.  I was putting together my Brewers team sets needs from the checklist over at Cardboard Connections and realized that Robin has quite few cards to chase starting next week.  Here is a mostly complete run down Robin Yount cards in 2013 Gypsy Queen.

Base
#125

Framed parallel
#125 - I'm not sure if these will be numbered again and also have retail framed parallels as well or 1 of 1's either, but it's Topps so there is a really good chance that there will be a numbered framed parallel and also at least one retail exclusive and if Topps decides to make unique framed parallel cards for both Target and Wal-mart and maybe even TRU there could be a few of these to chase.

Mini's
Base
Black
Green
Sepia
Wood  numbered to 5
Leather numbered to 1!
Printing Plates

Mini Variation found in hobby mini box

Mini Relic (framed relic)
GQMR-RY

So there are at least 8 cards to chase that are within reason.  I won't kid myself about the wood, leather and printing plates.  I'm also not going to kid myself if Topps does what it did last year and put in 1/1 framed parallel cards either, but there is always that chance.  I'll add photos to this once this product is released.

Teeny Tiny Younts

If you read this blog or my main blog, Collector's Crack, you know I'm a sucker for oddballs and mini's.

I've got a few examples of micro and super micro cards from the Yount collection.

From 1991 to 1993 Topps put out a set of Micro cards.  These came out as a factory set in a tiny little box.

In 1991 Cracker Jacks also put mini cards in it's boxes.
On the left we have the Topps Micro and on the right the Cracker Jacks card, I've put the regular Topps card in the middle for reference.
In 1992 Cracker Jacks decided to do another baseball card offering, but this time with Donruss cards.  You can see that the Cracker Jacks cards used different photos for their cards than the base Donruss set.

Here we have the 1992 Topps Micro Cards.
In 1993 Topps also inserted 12 Prism cards with each set and if you have a favorite player from this set, he's got a micro prism parallel.

There you go, by far the smallest Yount cards I own.  Topps had put out mini cards before and even super jumbo cards, but this 3 year experiment saw Topps work that far end of the size spectrum.  But then again back in the early nineties going micro was all the rage.  I'm glad Topps got away from these micro cards.  There hard to enjoy being so small and I can see them getting lost in a collection.  The 1993 set also introduced a new technology that we still see to day, but oddly enough Topps didn't reuse for quite a long time. Opting to go the foil route instead.

2010 Brewers Yount Ticket

I found these a couple weeks ago on the bay.  I couldn't resist picking up two for the Yount Collection.  These tickets are from 2010 on Robin Yount Bobble Head night.

I'm a sucker for oddball stuff like this.

2012 Panini National Treasures Yount Bat Knob card, or an insanely cool card I will never own.

I've been keeping track of all the cool National Treasure cards that have been hitting ebay, Not just for Yount, but for Rollie Fingers and other Brewers.  I found this great card and as I write this it's sitting at about $370 dollars.  Way to steep for my blood.  That's a car payment.

I have to say I'm a big fan of this Panini offering, even if they had to show the players from the neck up and chop off the tops of their heads and use black and white photos. These cards still look great.

Chasing History trifecta

Well the year is still fairly young and I've picked up all the new 2013 Younts.  Finally.

I already featured Robin's Silver Slugger Award card, and if Topps continues its Trophy cards into Series 2 and Update I'm sure we'll see at least one MVP card for him as well.

Robin is in the Chasing History set has card #CH-34.

This insert also has Autograph and relic versions for some of the cards, Robin doesn't have any of those.  He does have two retail foil parallels of this card though and I was able to pick both of them up relatively cheap.
The first is what has been call the Silver or White Foil parallel.

From the scan you really can't tell that it's all that much different from the base card.  But in hand it's very shiny.

Next up we have the Gold foil parallel card.
It has nice gold foil and the banner is gold as well.  It is also very shiny.  I've seen the the new 2013 Panini National Treasures has quite a few premium Yount cards in it.  I'll be featuring a few that I know I'll never own, but there are a couple I'll at least try and snag.
